Alaska - On our own
The end of the cruise, and here we are traveling on our own. Sad to leave the Wilderness Discoverer but we still have five weeks on our own
to discover and explore Alaska. Lucky us!
We move out of our un-cruise room and begin the next phase of our tour with a four night campground stay in Juneau. Rain and cooler temps kicked off our second Juneau stay but sunshine and blue skies were not to be denied. After suiting up in rain pants and jackets each day we ventured out to hike local trails rewarded with daytime calm and sunscreen skies. First venturing up the westside trail of the Mendenhall glacier to a perch high above the glaciers termination into Lake Mendenhall, our second day took us to the esatside trail, NFS visitor cent or and an up close and personal view of a 10+ story waterfal
l also pouring into the lake.
